Awards founder Rory Kent says: “In taking the wine conversation to the place of origin, and how the grapes are grown, these awards seek to shift the awareness of wine from a manufactured beverage to a distinct product of provenance and culture.”

The four major category winners, announced in a virtual ceremony on Tuesday night, are prime examples of the fundamental importance a wine’s origins have in shaping its quality.

This national award highlights the importance of vineyards in the Australian wine industry.

The top 50 finalists included well known wine business such as Angoves, Oxford Landing, Wirra Wirra, Yangara and many more.

The top 50 were the cream of the crop in Australia.

Ricca Terra was the only South Australian vineyard to be awarded a trophy (only four presented).

The ‘Groundbreaking’ trophy was for a vineyard that was showing leadership, making significant change to improve regional challenges & making great wine.

In the past decade Ricca Terra has been awarded the ASVO & Gourmet Traveller Viticulturist of the Year & been rated as a five star wine business for the past two years.
